Sectarian assault and robbery on teenage boys in Co Antrim

Police in Newtownabbey are appealing for witnesses following a sectarian assault and robbery at the weekend.

At around 5.30pm on Saturday two males aged 18 and 19 were walking along Elmfield Road when they were approached at the junction of Collinward Avenue by a red estate car.

The male occupants of the car shouted sectarian taunts at the pair before getting out of the vehicle and assaulting them.

During the assault the two assailants also went through the pockets of their victims taking mobile phones, football tickets and bank cards.

Officers investigating this incident would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may be able to help identify the car or it's occupants.

They can be contacted at Newtownabbey police station by calling 0845 600 8000.
