A Limavadyman who had been given “every opportunity” to turn his life around has been jailed for nine months for a series of offences — including attacking a police officer.
Stephen Martin (23) admitted assaulting a police officer, disorderly behaviour and a drugs charge on the same night.
Police were called to an incident in the Rathbeg Crescent area on March 10 this year and observed Martin running down an alleyway.
Martin, whose address was given as Rathbeg Crescent, was arrested and while being taken to a vehicle, began struggling with police.
When he reached the police van he kicked at the door to try and prevent officers from opening it.
A defence solicitor said that Martin had been in a “disastrous relationship” but this was over now.
District Judge Paul Copeland said that Martin had been given repeated opportunities to change his ways.
