Shop employee 'forced to steal'

A man has been bundled into a van at gun point and forced to steal money from his workplace, police said

A man has been bundled into a van at gun point and forced to steal money from his workplace, police have said.

The victim, in his 20s, was injured when he was struck on the head with a pistol.

Police appealed for information on the robbery in the Castlereagh area of Belfast.

Detectives said that at around 8.50am, a Ford Transit van blocked the path of the shop employee's car at Imperial Street.

Two men, one armed with what appeared to be a handgun, forced him into the back of the van.

The man was threatened and told to take a sum of money from his place of work at Greenway in Castlereagh and to leave it close to Kilbroney House flats.

He was released from the van at Willowfield Parade and later left the money as instructed.

Police asked anyone with information to come forward.
