Sinn Fein blamed for parking charge hikes

Sinn Fein has been blamed for the rise in car parking charges across Northern Ireland.

UUP MLA for North Antrim, Robin Swann, said it was “the atrocious legacy of Sinn Fein in the Regional Development Department” that was behind the ‘inevitable hike in parking charges across the Province”.

His comments follow DRD Minister Danny Kennedy’s unveiling of stiff parking increases across towns in Northern Ireland, including Ballymena and Ballycastle.

Mr Swann said Mr Kennedy had “no other choice” but to introduce the new charges and claimed “this is because of the atrocious legacy left to us by republicans when they ran the ministry”.
