A teenage driver drank three pints of lager and up to 10 vodka shots before getting behind the wheel of an off-road vehicle that collided with a car outside Omagh at the weekend, killing the driver, a court has heard.
Conor John Breen (18), had been left home from the pub because of the amount he had to drink but went out to get cigarettes and was involved in the fatal crash, the court was told.
Breen, from Corbo Road, Eskra, Omagh, is charged with causing the death of 26-year-old Simon Glenn by driving dangerously on the Doogary Road on April 2, 2011.
He is further charged with causing grievous bodily injury to Mr Glenn's mother, Martina (48), his girlfriend, Karen Keown (23), and niece, Lily Glenn (3). He is also accused of driving while unfit and failing to display ‘R’ plates.
District Judge Liam McNally released Breen on bail to appear at Omagh Court on May 17, on condition that he has no contact with any of the witnesses and does not consume alcohol.
