A 19-year-old is being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder after a serious assault in Belfast

Police are appealing for information following a serious assault in Stanhope Street in the early hours of Sunday, May 5.

At approximately 3.20am it was reported that a 19-year-old man had sustained serious head injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He is currently helping police with their enquiries.
