Police are appealing for witnesses after lead with an estimated value of £20,000 was stolen from a high school in Glengormley, Co Antrim.
The lead flashing, which was removed from the roof, was taken from the school on the Ballyclare Road over three nights between September 5 and 7. A number of skylights were also damaged by the thieves while removing the lead.
Detectives believe the thefts occurred between 12.45am and 4am each night and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Investigating officers can be contacted by calling 0845 600 8000.
Police also appealed for anyone living in close proximity to a school to note any suspicious or unusual activity and to contact police immediately.
“People should not take action to confront possible criminals — that responsibility belongs to police,” they said.
