Police are treating an arson attack in Co Antrim as a hate crime

Three people have escaped injury after a wheelie bin was set on fire at the back door of their house.

Police said the arson attack took place at about 4am on the home in the Pottinger Street area of Cullybackey, Co Antrim.

The bin was set alight and placed against the back door but was extinguished by one of the people in the house.

It is understood the three people in the house are from Lithuania.

Three men were seen in the area at the time.

Police said they are treating the arson attack as a hate crime and detectives from Ballymena have appealed for information.
