Three killed in road accidents

A road was shut after a young child died in a crash in Antrim and another child and two women were taken to hospital

A young child has died in a road crash in Antrim, police said.

Another child and two women have been taken to hospital for treatment following the one-vehicle collision on the Dublin Road. The extent of their injuries is not yet known.

The road was closed and police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The child who died was one year old.

In a separate fatal incident on the roads, a 39-year-old man died when two lorries collided in Coalisland, Co Tyrone.

He was driving one of the vehicles involved. The second driver has been taken to hospital but his condition is not yet known.

The crash happened on the Ballynakilly Road.

The deaths come after a motorcyclist lost his life on the M1 on Sunday evening. That crash also occurred near Coalisland.

Police said the motorcyclist who died on the M1 was 71-year-old Robin Steenson from the Cookstown area.
