Three people have been rescued after a woman and her child were blown out to sea on an inflatable dinghy.

Crews from Larne RNLI were sent to the scene at Portmuck near Islandmagee in Co Antrim at around 5pm on Sunday.

One male swimmer tried to help when he saw the dinghy being blown out to sea but was unable to reach the woman and child on board.

Lifeboat crews rescued all three and brought them back to shore.

They were left shaken but not injured.
