Three women attacked by car hijackers in space of 15 minutes

Three women have been attacked during two separate attempted car hijackings and a mugging.

They were targeted withing 15 minutes of each other in east Belfast.

One victim suffered injuries to her her head, neck and arm as a result of the attack.

The first happened at around 10.15am when two men tried to get into a car at Jocelyn Avenue off the Woodstock Road while the driver was inside.

When they failed, the men made off along the Woodstock Road and attempted to steal a handbag from a woman close to the Credit Union building.

She was assisted by a family member before the would-be robbers were chased by members of the public.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries to her head, neck and left arm.

Just minutes later two men pulled a woman from her red Ford Focus car before making off in it.

The pair have been described as being in their 20s with local accents - one wearing a black top and the other a grey tracksuit.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
