Police had to quell trouble at the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children, Belfast, over the weekend after fights broke out between members of the Travelling community.
It is understood officers were called to the hospital in west Belfast twice.
Large crowds of people descended on the premises after a child from the Travelling community was admitted on Saturday afternoon.
Yesterday morning a second large group arrived at the hospital and a fight broke out.
A spokesman for the Belfast Trust which runs the hospital said: “We are continuing to provide as much support to the family as possible.”
The PSNI last night said they were monitoring the situation.
