More than 17,000 runners at the Belfast marathon have stood in silence in memory of the spectators killed in the Boston marathon.

The streets around City Hall fell silent for 30 seconds before the crowd burst into a round of applause before the first of the participants were waved off at the start of the 26.2 mile route.

Three people were killed and more than 200 injured in last month's attack at the finishing line in Boston.
