Two people have been killed in separate accidents during a tragic 24 hours on Northern Ireland's roads.

 

A teenage boy who was knocked down while walking in Co Tyrone road died in hospital this afternoon.

The accident at Beltany Road, Newtownstewart happened at about 11pm last night.

A man in his 20s was killed in a three-vehicle crash close to Larne in Co Antrim.

A silver Vauxhall Corsa, a blue Peugeot 206 and a black Volkswagen Touran were in collision on the Belfast Road just before midnight

In a statement, a spokesman for the PSNI appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Meanwhile, in the Republic two women aged in their 50s and 70s were killed in an accident involving a car and a minibus. The smash happened at Bagnalstown this afternoon.

Gardai said four others including two children had been taken to hospital for treatment.
