Two men have escaped injury after an arson attack at a house in Co Down.

The fire was discovered in a garage at the back of a house in the Pound Street area of Newtownards at around 11.30pm on Wednesday night.

Two men in the house at the time managed to escape uninjured.

A 35-year-old arrested on suspicion of arson was later released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
