Tyrone family pet torn apart by "wolf-like" dog

A family pet has been brutally killed and dismembered by a crazed, wolf-like dog, it has been claimed.

The fearsome canine creature was allegedly set free in the Magheramason area of Co Tyrone, outside Strabane, and travelled for some distance before setting upon the pet and killing it.

Speaking at Strabane District Council’s environment committee, Michelle McMackin said she had been been made aware “that a dangerous dog, described as having a wolf-like appearance, had been released in the Magheramason area and had made its way to the Newtownstewart area, where it had mauled a family pet dog which had died as a consequence”.

She said police had been police had been informed of the incident. She added that parents should remain vigilant has though the dog had not struck again, it still remained at large.
