Industrial action may be taken if Belfast Metropolitan College pushes ahead with plans to axe up to 200 jobs, unions have warned.
The college announced last Friday that over 100 jobs would go within the next six to 18-month period — however union leaders have claimed the cull could be double the official estimate.
Yesterday trade union members launched a campaign to fight the redundancies and cuts in educational provision.
Members voted to support a widespread campaign of opposition including — if necessary — a ballot for industrial action.
