Western Health Trust reaches deal on strike cover

The Western Health Trust has come to an agreement with Unison officials for emergency cover for patients and care homes over the strike in the north west today.

A helpline has also been set up for local people concerned over what today’s strike will mean for them.

Industrial action is taking place across Northern Ireland over fears about cuts to frontline services within the health and education services.

A spokesman for the Western Trust said ahead of the 24-hour strike: “Western Trust representatives have had a series of meetings over recent days with regional officers of Unison to agree a range of measures to protect both clinical and community services that are critical.”

Anyone with questions regarding Western Trust hospitals and services is asked to contact the information line between 8am and 3pm today on 028 7161 1252.
