Woman held down and assaulted by men during Co Down house robbery

A woman was assaulted by men robbing her house in Co Down on Wednesday morning.

Two men forced their way into the house, in the Glassdrumman Road area of Annalong, when the door was opened by the female occupant.

Wearing ski masks, gloves and hi-viz vests, they held the woman down, assaulted her and then stole a sum of cash in denominations of £20 notes.

Detectives are investigating reports the men may have left the scene in a white vehicle.

The woman was taken to hospital to be treated for shock and non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area around 11.45am to contact them CID at Newry on 0845 600 8000. Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
