Woman stabbed after answering door

A woman is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed, Garda said

A woman is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed in the head as she answered her front door.

A man who called at the house in Omagh at around 5.15am on Sunday morning attacked the woman when she opened the door.

Another man was found outside the home in the Cappagh Villas area with injuries to his head, face and body. He had been assaulted, not stabbed.

Both were taken to hospital where the woman's condition was described as "serious" and the man's as "serious but not life-threatening".

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They said there were a number of people in the house at the time of the incident.
