Woman taken to hospital after being struck by a caravan in Co Down

A woman has been taken to hospital after she was hit by a caravan which came loose from the car which was towing it.

The accident happened on the Castlewellan Road outside Newcastle, Co Down on Monday afternoon.

It's understood the victim was struck by the vehicle after it came loose.

She was taken to Downe Hospital for treatment for injuries to her leg which are not believed to be serious.

Police have warned drivers to expect delays in the area, but the road remains open.
