A woman told police she was going to kill her disabled husband, a court has been told.
Sharon Clarke, of McCandless Street, Belfast, appeared before the city’s Magistrates Court yesterday charged with making the threat against her spouse.
The 49-year-old had initially contested the charge but entered a guilty plea yesterday. The court was told police were called to a |report of a domestic disturbance at their home in March.
Officers noted she was in an intoxicated state when they arrived and was using abusive language towards her husband.
She continued to hurl abuse at him while police were present, that she was going to have him killed and that she was happy to “do time for him”, the court heard.
A prosecutor said police believed Clarke was capable of carrying out the threats and that Mr Clarke’s safety was, in their opinion, in jeopardy.
A defence lawyer said Clarke — a mother-of-three — was “mortified” by the incident and said the family has since reconciled.
She was bound over on the sum of £500 for 18 months.
