A man was rushed to hospital yesterday after getting his arm trapped in a piece of machinery at a plant in Moira.
The 21-year-old, who has not been named, was working on the heavy equipment when his arm became caught in part of it.
He had to be cut free by firefighters and was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where he was due to have an operation last night.
The man worked at Clarehill Plastics on the Clarehill Road, where the incident happened just before 1pm.
Brian McCann, managing |director of the manufacturing company, said the incident was “regrettable”.
“Obviously we are concerned about any of our employees being injured and we believe in this case that the injuries are unfortunate,” he said.
“At this stage we are investigating what happened and will look into it further when we have more information.”
