Hi °C | Lo °C Police are hunting a man who hit a pensioner on the head with a bar after trying to steal money from church collection boxes.
The incident happened at a Catholic Church on Upper Cairncastle Road in Larne yesterday.
Between 10am and 11am, a man entered the church and tried to open collection boxes. He was disturbed by two women and hit one of them on the head with a bar.
After assaulting the woman, he tried to steal her handbag but left empty handed.
He was in his late teens or early twenties, wore a dark hoodie and had a local accent.
