Online Poll: Civil Servants' pay deal

Northern Ireland civil servants caught up in the controversy over back pay are being offered lump sum hand-outs of up to £14,000.

Administrative officers with six years or more service will be entitled to £13,965 — the higher end of the offer to the main civil service union, NIPSA.

And lower-grade administrative assistants will be able to receive almost £10,000 if they have six years’ service or more.

NIPSA now has to formally put the figures, which will be worked out on an individual basis, to its members, and it is thought the cash will not be paid out until the new year.
