Plea to help find Bangor sex attacker

A sex attacker who targeted a woman as she walked through a Bangor housing estate was being hunted by police last night.

The 20-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in the Balligan Gardens area of the Kilcooley estate early on Sunday morning.

The attacker pounced as she walked home some time between 12.30am and 2am, said a police spokeswoman.

Police said they wanted to speak to anyone who was in the area between the times or who saw anything suspicious or the woman.

Detectives investigating the attack said they wanted to make a special appeal for a young man who spoke to the woman before she was assaulted to contact them. He is said to be aged 18-21 and about 5ft 8in tall .

They stressed he was being sought as a witness only.
