Jobs Minister Richard Bruton has welcomed news of new posts being created in Dublin and Galway

Some 165 jobs are to be created in Dublin and Galway over the next four years.

Canadian technology company Pivot Acquisition will bring 100 positions in a new IT centre in Galway, introducing 25 this year and a further 75 next year.

US-based IT firms Engine Yard, Pinger and Commence will set up their international headquarters in Dublin over the next three years. Engine Yard has announced the creation of 30 jobs, Pinger 15, and Commence will deliver 20 positions.

Jobs Minister Richard Bruton welcomed the announcements, which coincided with the Dublin Web Summit that started on Thursday morning.

"A key part of this Government's strategy to create employment and growth in the economy is to ensure that we can build on our established base of world-leading technology companies," he said.

"This means ensuring that more and more dynamic and innovative international companies locate operations here, and ensuring that more indigenous companies start and expand on the back of their presence here."
