A description of two men suspected of holding up staff in Dylan McGrath's Rustic Stone restaurant before fleeing with 10,000 euro has been issued.
Eight employees were locked up by raiders wielding a gun and a knife on Sunday night.
Detectives in Pearse Street appealed for anyone who saw two men wearing high visibility jackets walking, pushing or cycling bicycles in the Dame, South Great Georges, Exchequer, Wicklow, Andrew or Trinity street areas between 11pm and midnight to come forward.
McGrath, a Michelin-starred celebrity chef, was not in the eatery during the robbery but said his staff had been put through a terrible and unfortunate ordeal.
A Garda spokesman said the first man is said to be approximately 5ft 9in in height and of heavy build, aged between 30- and 40-years-old and with a Dublin accent.
He was wearing white Adidas runners with black stripes, black bottoms, navy Adidas tracksuit top with white stripes on the sleeves and a monkey hat.
A second, smaller, man was possibly 5ft 5in to 5ft 7in, very thin and gaunt, who was wearing a grey Adidas tracksuit top with dark stripes, grey tracksuit bottoms, light coloured runners and a black monkey hat.
"They would also like to talk to any taxi drivers who may have picked up the men fitting this description with or without the bikes around this area," he added.
"Gardai would also like to talk to any person who saw any cars acting suspiciously in this area, either parked or moving, around the time of the incident."
McGrath, who hosts MasterChef Ireland alongside restaurateur Nick Munier, opened Rustic Stone in August 2010. The show is returning for a second series next month.
