Bodies of boys to be returned home

The heartbroken mother of two boys found dead in their father's car is preparing to bring their bodies home.

Sanjeev Chada, 43, and youngsters Eoghan, 10, and Ruairi, five, went missing after leaving the family home in Ballinkillen, Bagenalstown, Co Carlow, on Sunday evening.

The bodies of the boys were discovered in the boot of the crashed car about four miles from Westport, Co Mayo, on Monday afternoon. Mr Chada, known locally as Sanj, remains in hospital being treated for injuries suffered in the crash.

Parish priest, Fr Declan Foley, said the boys' mother Kathleen and a large circle of relatives, including grandparents Willie and Patsy Murphy, are "getting ready for the boys coming home", which he expects will be Wednesday night or Thursday.

Mr Chada was also being investigated by gardai over the disappearance of 50,000 euro from a local community centre in recent weeks.

Earlier the two schoolboys were remembered as beautiful, popular little boys who had a great sense of fun and humour.

Michelle Doorley, principal of Ballinkillen National School where the boys went to school, described them as having "the whole package".

"Ruairi had a smile you'd die for," she said.

"He was bubbly and bright. Very clever, great sense of fun. He was always following his brother around.

"Eoghan had just finished third class. He was a solid, bright young chap. They were very close. Ruairi was like Eoghan's shadow. They did everything."
