Hundreds of charities around the country are expected to connect with volunteers and supporters through digital storytelling.
A national campaign has been launched to showcase the work of organisations, clubs and associations who will share inspiring videos about their work online.
The public can view videos and connect with charities through www.bettertogether.ie and support a cause in their area by volunteering their time or donating vital funds. The top three videos will also receive 3,000 euro for charity.
Deirdre Garvey, of The Wheel, an umbrella body for more than 800 community and voluntary groups nationwide, said volunteers play a vital role in supporting organisations.
"Voluntary groups build the networks and relationships that contribute significantly to Ireland's economy and quality of life," she said.
"These organisations make Ireland a better place to live by caring for the vulnerable, enthusing and training young people, preserving our natural and cultural heritage or giving people the opportunity to create art or play sports."
Research shows two-thirds of adults engage in the social, cultural and humanitarian activities offered by Ireland's 19,000 community and voluntary organisations.
The Better Together campaign, supported by EBS Building Society, is designed to help promote the opportunities available for groups, while highlighting the impact people can have through their participation. It will run until the end of November.
Ms Garvey said the popularity of video on the internet is an effective tool for community and voluntary groups to showcase the impact of their work through digital storytelling.
"It allows the public to see how these groups are changing people's lives for the better and how they can get involved in supporting that work - particularly important in these difficult economic times," she added.
