Christy Moore chimes in on Occupy protest
Tuesday, 15 November 2011
Musician Christy Moore yesterday turned up on the streets of Dublin to show his support for the 'Occupy' movement.
But instead of entertaining the crowds, he mingled with the protesters and offered his support.
The veteran 66-year-old singer and campaigner met with protesters on Dame Street who form the core of the Irish leg of the global movement.
Mr Moore had been expected to appear at around 2pm yesterday. He showed up an hour early before making a quiet get away after around 40 minutes.
He mingled with the protesters inside the makeshift walls of the tent city which is located outside the Central Bank.
Protesters weren't disappointed that he failed to perform. "We are just happy with the support, he thanked us for what we are doing," one said.
