Folk legend Christy Moore has told of his delight at his classic song 'Lisdoonvarna' appearing alongside verses from Yeats and Seamus Heaney in the new anthology of Irish poetry.

He said he wished his English teacher was still alive to see his famous tune appear in the 'Penguin Book of Irish Verse'.

The Kildare man recently became an internet sensation when his duet with Coldplay at Oxegen was viewed around the world.

The 66-year-old told Gay Byrne on his new RTE series, 'One Night Only', that he was convinced it was a prank when he was first asked if his lyrics could be included.

"I thought it was a joke. I thought it was someone setting me up," he said.
