The cost of living has steadily increased for the second month in a row, official figures have revealed.
Clothing and footwear prices and higher mortgage repayments combined to push the annual inflation rate up to 2.6%.
The cost of household goods, furniture and education all decreased in the year.
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) said monthly increases in the cost of living this September were largely driven by hikes of 5.4% in fashion after the traditional summer sales came to an end.
More expensive mortgages saw a 1.7% increase in the cost of running a house, the monthly report revealed.
