An Irishman has been killed in a shooting incident in Namibia.
Ray Prenderville, originally from Co Kerry, died last night.
It is understood Mr Prenderville, who was believed to be in his 60s, was a former Garda officer who had been living and working in Africa in a security role.
A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed an Irish citizen had been killed in the southern African country.
He said DFA officials were providing assistance to the victim's family members.
