Fresh appeal over gang stab attack

A 56-year-old man suffered stab wounds to his face, neck and arm when he was attacked in Co Louth

Garda have made a fresh appeal for information about a serious knife attack in Co Louth.

A 56-year-old man suffered stab wounds to his face, neck and arm after being targeted by a gang of youths on Saturday evening.

The victim had been sitting in a grey Renault car at Patrick Street in Dundalk when he was approached by three men - one of whom got into the vehicle and allegedly stabbed him.

The trio fled the scene on foot down Patrick Street towards De la Salle terrace.

The injured man managed to stagger from his car towards a nearby pub for help. He collapsed into the street outside the bar and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment.

His injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

A spokesman for An Garda Siochana said detectives were keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the attack.
