Gardai are hunting a gang who held a number of people hostage during a house burglary.
The intruders got into the property in Crumlin, south Dublin, at about 6.20pm on Sunday but they fled after gardai were called.
Officers found a vehicle on fire on Hughes Road South. A firearm, thought to be a handgun, was found in the charred remains.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
Gardai have appealed for witnesses.
