Drugs raids in Dublin have netted 2.6 million euro of Dutch cannabis.

In an intelligence-led joint operation between Revenue's Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs Unit this afternoon, 106kg (234lb) of herbal cannabis and 112kg (247lb) of cannabis resin were seized at an industrial unit in the Ballymount area of the capital.

A Customs spokeswoman said: "The operation, which was targeting a Dublin-based organised crime group, resulted in the seizure of cannabis with an approximate street value of 2.6 million euro.

"The consignment arrived into the country through Dublin Port from the Netherlands."

Investigations are continuing.
