A man is fighting for his life after he was stabbed outside the Central Bank.

The 28-year-old was attacked by four men at 5.40pm on Monday as he stood under the Crann an Oir monument on Dame Street, Dublin.

The victim, who was known to gardai, suffered serious stab wounds to his stomach and cheek and was rushed to St James' Hospital where his condition is described as critical.
