Detectives investigating organised crime have arrested a man during a planned house raid.
A handgun and ammunition was recovered during the search at Allenwood, Co Kildare.
A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene on Friday.
He is being questioned at Naas Garda station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
Investigating officers said the arrest was made as part of an investigation into organised criminal activity.

A British Airways plane had to return to Heathrow airport today with smoke billowing from the aircraft. Both the northern and southern runways at Heathrow were closed after the incident, although flights were able to resume shortly afterwards from the southern runway.
