A man who allegedly swallowed cannabis worth 10,000 euros to evade customs checks has been arrested.

The suspect Spaniard was stopped after leaving a flight from Spain at Cork airport. Approximately a kilogramme of drugs were seized after a sniffer dog gave a positive reaction.

He was taken to hospital and later arrested by gardai, a Customs spokeswoman said.
