Gardai are expected to launch a murder probe after a man was stabbed to death.
The victim, aged in his 40s, was killed in a knife attack in an apartment in Cavan at about 11pm on Saturday night.
A Garda spokesman said the victim's body remains at scene and the State Pathologist's Office has been notified.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out later to determine the exact cause of his death.
The Garda Technical Bureau is also expected to carry out a forensic examination of the apartment on Connolly Court later.
It is believed two men forced their way into the property and stabbed the victim, who is a foreign national.
Gardai have appealed for anyone who witnessed anything unusual or suspicious in or around Connolly Court apartments between 10pm and midnight to come forward.
