Payments firm announces 50 new jobs

A payments firm has revealed plans to recruit 50 people at its office in Monkstown

A Dublin payments firm has announced the creation of 50 jobs.

Realex Payments hopes to recruit people for roles in customer service, IT and product management - based in its Monkstown office.

The company wants to make the appointments urgently, having recently won a big deal in the UK which will result in its customers doubling over the next 12 months.

Chief executive officer Colm Lyon said: "Over the last few years, we have invested heavily in expanding our operations throughout Europe - our UK business is now boarding almost 100 retailers a month, we opened in Paris earlier this year and are now live processing into local French banks.

"In addition we have established initial operations in Amsterdam and we are live with an Italian bank."

He said the company's overseas customers account for 50% of its transactions.

Realex Payments outsources on behalf of financial institutions the online payment processes of retailers across the continent.

Its clients include Virgin Atlantic, Vodafone and GlaxoSmithKline.

According to the company's latest figures, it processes payments in excess of 12 billion euro a year for 5,000 retailers in 25 different countries.

Mr Lyon added: "The achievements are testament to the hard work and dedication of the people within our organisation who never lose sight of the end goal."
