Pedestrian killed in car collision

Gardai have appealed for witnesses after a fatal crash in Co Westmeath

A pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a car in the early hours of the morning.

The accident happened at 1.20am at Newcastle, Rochfortbridge, Co Westmeath.

The victim, a 45-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses.

The road is currently closed for a forensic examination.
