The Real IRA has been blamed for kneecapping a man alleged to be one of its own members.
The victim, a friend of slain Real IRA faction boss Alan Ryan, was named as 33-year-old Nathan Kinsella, from Dublin's north inner city.
He is on bail, charged with membership of the Real IRA.
Kinsella was shot after midnight on Saturday.
He was in a stable condition last night.
