Sister's grief as murdered student is laid to rest

The funeral of a young Irish woman who was murdered in Japan has been held in Wexford.

Hundreds of mourners wearing pink ribbons in tribute to Nicola Furlong packed the small seaside church in Curracloe

Stifling back her sobs, Andrea Furlong (18) told how her 21-year-old sister had mapped out their lives together.

The bubbly Dublin City University student was going to set-up home with her long-term boyfriend and was going to grow old alongside her sister.

Two American men have been arrested over the murder at a hotel in Tokyo

The exchange student was murdered and her Irish friend assaulted after meeting the pair in a Tokyo train station.

The girls had missed their last train home and were invited to a nearby hotel by the two men.

The men, dancer James Blackston (23) and an unnamed 19-year-old friend, are now in custody on sex assault charges and face the death penalty if found guilty of Nicola’s murder.
