Six people have been arrested after a Garda officer sustained a serious injury in an assault.
The incident happened at a house in Tallaght, south Dublin in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Gardai were called to the property at Redwood Lawn at around 4am following a report of a disturbance.
A Garda spokesman said when officers arrived and entered the house they were confronted by a number of people and the male Garda was assaulted.
He sustained a serious facial injury.
The officer was taken to Tallaght Hospital for treatment. He has since been released from hospital.
Six people - two women and four men with ages ranging from early 20s to early 50s - were detained at the scene of the disturbance.
They were later released without charge. Garda said a file would be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
