Susan Boyle stuns Donegal punters as she pops in for lunch

Susan Boyle

Singer Susan Boyle stunned pub patrons when she dropped in for lunch at the weekend.

Staff and customers at the Halfway House, Burnfoot, Co Donegal, were "shocked" when the singer walked through the pub door at 2pm on Saturday.

"We went straight down to the bar when we got a call to say Susan Boyle had come in," said Martina Long, sister of the proprietor.

"She was lovely. She had a sandwich and a half pint of Guinness and chatted away to everyone. She signed autographs and stood for photos. She was very nice.

"Word got about pretty quickly and within minutes the crowd in the bar had doubled."

Dressed in a fur coat, white cable-knit jumper and green scarf, Ms Boyle spent the day sightseeing around the Inishowen peninsula with two other women and a man. They later dropped into a local seaside hotel for dinner.

"She was chatting away to people in the bar and was very nice to everyone," said Breedge Doherty, manager of the Lake of Shadows Hotel in Buncrana.
