Two held over city centre stabbing

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being attacked by four men in Dublin

Two men have been arrested in connection with a stabbing that left a victim with stomach and cheek injuries.

The suspects, in their 20s, were detained in Dublin this afternoon.

Gardai have been quizzing the men, who have been held separately at Pearse Street and Kevin Street Garda stations, about an incident in the city centre on Monday.

A man, in his late 20s was standing in front of the Central Bank in Dame Street when he was attacked by four men at around 5.40pm.

The victim was taken to St James's Hospital where his condition was described as critical.

Gardai believe his attackers were part of a larger group that had walked from Crown Alley, around the back of Central Bank and into Fownes Street.
