Two questioned over 2009 murder

Two men are being questioned by Garda over the murder of a man more than two years ago

Two men are being questioned by detectives over the murder of a man more than two years ago.

Liam Murray, 42, was found upstairs in his Rathfarnham home in south Dublin with gunshot wounds to the head in March 2009.

He had been last seen three days earlier, on St Patrick's Day, socialising at a bar on the junction between South Circular Road and Clanbrassil Street, and later in the Terenure area.

A 49-year-old man has been detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act at Terenure Garda station while a second man, 47, is being held under Section 30 at Rathmines Garda station.

Mr Murray, who had worked in a garage in nearby Templeogue, had been living alone in the Rockbrook Cottages house, in Rathfarnham, for several years.

A family member became worried when they had not heard from him in a number of days and asked a friend to call at the house and check on him.
