The woman, aged 90, was walking in north Dublin when she was knocked down on Tuesday evening.
The accident happened at the corner of Iona Road and Crawford Avenue in the north of the city.
The woman was seriously injured and died later in the Mater Hospital.
A 26-year-old woman who had been driving the car was not injured.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have information to contact them at Mountjoy station.
